A Few More Updates

Recently we remedied the only noted issue on last years tech inspection by purchasing new wheels.  These brand new Weld wheels look excellent!  Thanks to Les Schwab in Providence, Utah we were able to get the tires dismounted and then mounted and balanced on the new wheels as a small sponsorship!  Thanks for the help Les Schwab!  Go and check these guys out!  They have been great to work with anytime we have needed something!  Since the new semester started we have had a third senior design team as part of the project.  They are working on building a transport trailer for the streamliner.  The team has been awesome to work with and they have some great ideas!  This will be unique as they would have their build semester in the fall, that wouldn't work for us being able to use the transport trailer on the salt flats during this racing season.  As such the team will finalize their designs in the next few weeks and actually begin construction this semester.  Those that can help in the summer on the transporter will and those who can't will help get the parts and pieces ready so that they can be assembled over the summer.  The designs are coming along and should be pretty cool.

Time For More Updates

Lots of work has been done on the car over the last little while and things are coming along nicely!  Last week the car was fired with the new transmission for the first time and ran through the gears like a dream!  We will post a video/videos of the car running in the near future.  The body team is also working quickly to get the plug ready.  It's starting to look awesome and the form for the windshield is coming along nicely.  Thanks to TMI Composites and their sponsorship we should be getting ready to see the car getting closer to being laid up.  On the fuel front we are making excellent progress!  We have started using a new algal species and the results are fantastic!!  We are able to create more fuel, faster, and with a broader profile than previously before!  We will do the emissions and performance testing with the fuel in the near future and see what we can learn about this new fuel.  So far the results are extremely promising!
